Jeffrey Epstein’s right-hand woman, Ghislaine Maxwell, may go to bed tonight with a big grin on her face. Since Donald Trump returned to the presidency she’s delivered a masterclass in manipulation and may be on the verge of walking out of prison with her convictions quashed as a free woman. As you read this, the Supreme Court is currently holding its “long conference”, during which the justices are considering the appeals they’ll hear in the coming term beginning Oct. 6. Among them is Maxwell, whose lawyers are arguing that she was unfairly charged as the non-prosecution agreement Epstein had with the government stated: “the United States also agrees that it will not institute any criminal charges against any potential co-conspirators of Epstein.” The issue is whether a binding agreement on behalf of the “United States” applies to all federal prosecutors or just that particular U.S. attorney’s office. If the justices agree that this issue needs to be settled, Maxwell will be given a hearing date and, if she wins, she walks free, and there will be no retrial. As good as a pardon The Supreme Court will decide Monday if Ghislaine Maxwell gets an appeal. If she wins, she walks—no retrial—because of Alex Acosta’s sweetheart deal with Jeffrey Epstein. pic.twitter.com/VpnzaqhAQN— Tara Palmeri (@tarapalmeri) September 28, 2025 It’s unclear what her chances of freedom are, but given that Maxwell has already used her testimony to praise Donald Trump and claim he had no involvement in Epstein’s crimes in exchange for being transferred to a low-security prison, this may be a sneaky backdoor way of getting what amounts to a pardon. Trump and his team know how politically damaging it would be for him to personally pardon Maxwell. However, if she knows where Trump’s skeletons are buried and could expose him with receipts as being directly involved in Epstein’s abuse, getting her released on a legal technicality would give him at least some wiggle room. But make no mistake, Maxwell squirming to freedom on a technicality would be a crushing injustice to her many victims. It’s worth underlining that the victims’ testimony underlines that she directly participated in their abuse, and she remains the only person to have ever faced justice for his crimes. Maxwell strolling through that prison gate, a smile plastered onto her face as she climbs into a waiting limousine, would be a slap in the face to anyone involved in the case and make a mockery of American justice. That said, under Trump 2.0, Lady Justice is already being dragged through the mud and given a pair of black eyes, so what’s one more indignity?
