Union Minister of State for Home Affairs Bandi Sanjay Kumar welcomed the announcement of schedule for the rural local body elections in the State and said the saffron party would sweep the ensuing local body polls. ‘We are bound to wrest both the Karimnagar and Sircilla Zilla Parishads at the ensuing hustings and set to script a new chapter in the local body polls in the State, he said.In a statement issued here on Monday (September 29), Mr. Sanjay alleged that the ‘misrule’ of the BRS government and the current Congress dispensation weakened the local bodies in the State. The BRS rulers deprived the local bodies of their due share of funds and harassed the elected sarpanches by diverting the Central funds without clearing the pending bills to the Gram Panchayats, he charged. He further alleged that the present Congress dispensation was following the footsteps of the BRS government by neglecting the local bodies citing paucity of funds.“The Narendra Modi government at the Centre is promptly releasing the funds under Central schemes such as the MGNREGSM, the Central Road and Infrastructure Fund (CRIF), PM Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY) every year. Whatever development is happening in the Gram Panchayats it is because of the Central funds,” he added.Mr. Sanjay said the BJP’s rank-and-file is geared up to face the local body elections and expose the ‘failure’ of the Congress government to fulfil its six election guarantees and 420 promises. “The party cadres will also expose the BRS’s 10 years of misrule that ruined the State,” he added.Published - September 29, 2025 08:02 pm IST
