But on its first Monday, it’s witnessed a massive drop of more than 60%. After amassing double-digit hauls across the first four days, the film’s Monday haul stood at Rs 7.5 crore, a major fall from its Saturday (day 3) and Sunday (day 4) collections of Rs 18.50 crore each. That was a marginal spike from its Friday (day 2) earnings of Rs 18.45 crore. However, its highest single-day collection continues to be the opening day on Thursday at Rs 63.75 crore, according to industry tracker Sacnilk.Even prior to its opening day, They Call Him OG had already earned Rs 21 crore from the paid previews alone. The current domestic box office collection of the film, after five days, is Rs 147.7 crore. As it nears the Rs 150 crore mark, the film needs a sustained momentum throughout the week, and a major bump on its second weekend, to cover its humongous budget of Rs 250 crore.Worldwide, They Call Him OG has surpassed the Rs 200 crore mark, thus becoming Kalyan’s first film to achieve the feat. This huge figure has also allowed it to cement its place among the highest opening Indian films worldwide. However, if it’s unable to bounce back from its first Monday earnings, the film may not emerge as a success story despite the bumper opening. The majority share in the domestic box office collection of They Call Him OG has come from the original Telugu version, followed by the dubbed Hindi, Tamil, and Kannada versions respectively. Starting this Thursday, it’ll face fresh competition from another pan-India action thriller — Rishab Shetty’s period epic Kantara: Chapter 1, a prequel to his 2022 Kannada blockbuster Kantara. In the Hindi market, They Call Him OG is still earning higher than Neeraj Ghaywan’s Homebound, starring Ishaan Khatter, Vishal Jethwa, and Janhvi Kapoor, produced by Karan Johar’s Dharma Productions, and selected as India’s official Oscars entry this year. However, it may face a bigger threat in another Dharma movie, Shashank Khaitan’s romantic comedy Sunny Sanskari Ki Tulsi Kumari, starring Janhvi and Varun Dhawan, which is also slated to release in cinemas this Thursday. Also Read — OG movie review: Pawan Kalyan delivers entertaining film for hardcore fans, made by a hardcore fanThey Call Him OG revolves around the fictional gangster Ojas Gambheera, known as OG, played by Kalyan.
