It’s usually the ones that ask and give a big sob story. Genuine people will generally go to charity or not ask at all. The ones with a giant story in my experience will use the money for substances or they have been using the money intended for the item on substances. My MIL did this my partner’s entire childhood. Begging for everything. They would have had plenty of money for presents, food and clothes if she wasn’t blowing it all on heroin.
