Singer-turned-politician Hon. Geoffrey Lutaaya has addressed the storm surrounding his daughter, Nambatya Mellan Lutaaya, who recently went on TikTok accusing him of neglect and failure to pay her school fees. The 17-year-old, currently a Senior Four candidate, claimed her father had abandoned his responsibility despite repeated attempts through calls, court, and mediators. In response, Hon. Lutaaya admitted Mellan is his daughter but said her decision to go public was influenced by ill-intentioned individuals. He insisted he has been paying her tuition, explaining that he enrolled her at Stella Marris, Nsuube, because he believed it was the best place for her growth. However, Mellan’s mother reportedly objected and transferred her back to another school, where she was later expelled for assaulting a teacher.Irene Namatovu and Hon. I only heard about this from another parent because her mother never told me. He added that when Mellan was moved to yet another school, he cleared a fee demand of Shs 1.96 million, but there were continuous requests for more money.Lutaaya further expressed frustration at being denied time with his daughter, appealing to her mother to let him take Mellan under his care. She is my child, and I want her with me. I have looked after other people’s children; how can my own be taken away from me? I want to introduce her to her clan and give her the care she deserves. Part 1: Hon.
