The Director, Ministry of Finance, Planning & Economic Development, at the unveiling of the two vehicles Chinese automobile manufacturer Jetour Group has officially entered the Ugandan market.Al Mamoun East Africa, known for its significant investments in Sudan, South Sudan, the UAE, and beyond has been announced as the exclusive distributor of Jetour vehicles in Uganda, with a showroom and aftersales service center located in Namanve.As part of the launch, two exciting new models, the DASHING and X70 Plus were unveiled to the public. The company also announced that it will add the Jetour T2 to its fleet by the end of the year.Speaking at the event held at Serena Hotel Kampala on Friday, Moses Kaggwa, Ag. The Director, Ministry of Finance, Planning & Economic Development, hailed the arrival of Jetour in Uganda as a timely boost to the country’s industrial and economic agenda.“I thank you for investing in our economy and creating employment for many Ugandans. We pledge to support you,” Kaggwa noted. “Our country has a lot of potential,” he added. Kaggwa said the country’s economy grew by 6.3% in the last financial year, and that it is expected to grow by 6.6% this financial year. He added that last year alone, the country registered over US10 billion in exports.“This is not by accident,” Kaggwa said. “A few weeks ago, the JETOUR team met the minister, and told him about the plans to invest in Uganda. He promised this team a favourable business environment. I am here to give you the same assurance.”He appealed to JETOUR to add value in Uganda, pointing to the fact that the country is blessed with steel, copper and rare earth minerals, all materials critical in vehicle manufacturing. He noted that the country is also building the human capital through Kiira Motors. “Thererefore, there is potential for collaboration between JETOUR and Kiira Motors,” said Kaggwa. According to Kaggwa, JETOUR will help the country in omitting old vehicles from Uganda. He said old vehicles form part of the problems causing pollution in the country. “This is a good step. I hope in future you bring for us electric vehicles as you have already done in other markets.
