US Ambassador to Israel Mike Huckabee is expected to visit Cairo in the coming days and hold talks with senior Egyptian officials, a spokesman for the embassy in Jerusalem told The New York Times. The visit comes amid tense relations between Israel and Egypt following the war in the Gaza Strip.According to three sources in the US and the Middle East, the talks will focus on the war in Gaza. As part of the visit, Huckabee is expected to meet, among others, with Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty. This is the first official visit to Egypt by a US ambassador serving in Israel in decades.
