However, she soon quit films after tying the knot with filmmaker Shekhar Kapur. Now that she’s divorced and acting in films again, Suchitra maintains that she was never an ambitious actor. Naturally, given Shah Rukh’s continued dominance as a superstar today, she’s quizzed a lot about her bond with SRK and her memories of him from those early days. But Suchitra now finds these questions “stupid” and urges everyone to not ask them to her.“I haven’t talked to him for years. Our worlds are very different. Which is why I ask people, ‘Please stop asking me such stupid questions.’ It’s not correct for me to talk about something continuously for 30 years,” Suchitra Krishnamoorthi told Galatta India. However, she praised Anil Kapoor for his “brilliance,” “intelligence,” and “team work”. They starred together in Jiji Philip’s 2005 thriller My Wife’s Murder.Suchitra has signed a few projects now, but a couple of them have been stuck in the pipeline for a year now. “I’m superstitious, so I don’t want to talk about them. But they’re good projects,” said Suchitra. One of the projects, which she’s mentioned earlier, is thriller series Margaon: The Closed File alongside Zeenat Aman and Pallavi Joshi, among others.“A lot of people have 200-300 films in their career graphs. I’ve barely done 4-5 (notable) films in my life. I’ve never worked hard to get them, frankly. Nor do I want to. I’m quite happy with my canvas, pen, and singing. I don’t have that much hunger as an actor. I do what I get, happily. People think I don’t want to do it. That’s not correct. I definitely want to, and very openly ask my friends if they have anything that suits me. I don’t feel any embarrassment about that, but I’m not desperate,” said Suchitra.Suchitra Krishnamoorthi also claimed that auditioning isn’t her cup of tea, although that’s the norm today. “I don’t audition. These days, there’s this culture that a 19-year-old kid would message you and ask you to send an audition reel. They don’t know what your experience is like, who you are, and what work you’ve done. I find this culture a bit annoying. So, I want to stay away from it. Whatever work I’ve done, the director has called me directly and I’ve said yes promptly. I’m not so keen to send auditions and go for tests. A lot of my senior actor-friends do that because they have that hunger in them. But I don’t have it because I do a lot of other things which give me a lot of happiness,” confessed Suchitra. Also Read — Kaveri Kapur opens up about parents Shekhar Kapur and Suchitra Krishnamoorthi’s divorce: ‘I was happy…’Story continues below this adSuchitra Krishnamoorthi, 49, was last seen in Shefali Bhushan’s 2022 legal drama show Guilty Minds on Amazon Prime Video.
