(PTI File)With Durga Puja festivities in full swing in Kolkata and all over the state, the West Bengal Police on Friday launched an app called ‘Sabar Pujo’ to update festival-goers about pandals and other festival-related information in certain parts of the state.This app also gives updates about car parking around the pandals, toilets, Metro services, transport routes, and also emergency helpline numbers and numbers of local police stations and hospitals around the area. However, the app will not apply to the Kolkata region, officers said.According to the state police, the services are currently available in select areas such as Bidhannagar, Barrackpore, Howrah, Asansol, Durgapur, Siliguri, and Chandannagar Commissionerates, apart from East Burdwan, Baruipur, and Diamond Harbour police districts.Announcing the app on their X handle, the West Bengal Police stated, “This Durga Puja, go smart with SABAR PUJO”. “Explore pandals, Emergency help, Traffic alerts, Toilets, parking & more. All these features are also available on Yatri Sathi App – download & stay Puja-ready,” the police said.According to a senior police officer of the Bidhannagar Police Commissionerate, the puja rush is expected to be far higher this season, as several Metro lines have been inaugurated and are functional.“Salt Lake has several famous Durga Puja pandals that many visit, and with the Metro connectivity, everyone will be visiting these places. This app will be helpful for them.”The visitors can also make use of the app to know details about the nearest parking to Metro stations, railway stations, petrol pumps, ATMs, and emergency services.
