Graham Potter has been sacked by West Ham United just two days before they face Everton in the Premier League. The club said that “a change is necessary” to improve the team’s fortunes and avoid a relegation battle this season.Potter won just six of his 25 games since taking charge of the Hammers in January when he replaced Julen Lopetegui just one day after the Spaniard himself was sacked.West Ham have won just one of their opening five Premier League games, leaving them 19th in the table. They were also eliminated from the League Cup following a 3-2 second round defeat to Wolves.Potter’s coaching staff, including former Chelsea caretaker manager Bruno Salter, have also been fired with immediate.A club statement read: “Results and performances over the course of the second half of last season and the start of the 2025/26 season have not matched expectations, and the Board of Directors believe that a change is necessary in order to help improve the team’s position in the Premier League as soon as possible.”The statement continued: “The Board would like to thank Graham and his coaching staff for their hard work during their time with the Hammers and wish them every success for the future.“The process of appointing a replacement is underway.
