(Source: File)Mumbai’s Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport (CSMIA) handled more than 5 million international passengers between January and August 2025. This compares with 4.8 million arrivals during the same period in 2024 and 4.1 million in 2023.According to data shared by Mumbai International Airport Ltd (MIAL), international arrivals at CSMIA have grown at a compound annual growth rate of 21 per cent over the past three years. On a 12-month basis, the airport managed 8.24 million arriving international passengers between August 2024 and August 2025.“The United Arab Emirates remained the largest source market, accounting for 1.5 million passengers in the first eight months of 2025. The United Kingdom and Thailand followed with 0.38 million and 0.32 million passengers, respectively,” airport authorities said in a media release.Emerging destinations also contributed significantly to inbound volumes. Colombo added 0.17 million arrivals, while Kuwait and Dammam brought in 0.16 million each. Airport officials noted that the growth highlights changing travel patterns and expanding connectivity through Mumbai.Since April 2024, CSMIA has added seven new international routes — Al-Fujairah, Tashkent, Krabi, Almaty, Amman, Manchester, and Tbilisi.
