The Rachakonda Police Commissionerate and Security Council will assist senior citizens in reporting financial scams, addressing neglect and abandonment, investigating cases of physical or emotional abuse, and tracing lost items or missing individuals as part of the newly-launched Golden Care programme.The initiative has legal backing through Section 144 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS), which enforces accountability for those neglecting dependents, and the Maintenance Act provisions that enable senior citizens to claim support from their children.Commissioner of Police G. Sudheer Babu, who is also Chairman of the Rachakonda Security Council, said the scheme would ensure not just security but also compassion, dignity and respect. He added that senior citizens are the pillars of wisdom and strength in society, and Golden Care is designed to recognise their contribution.The programme also promises outreach visits, emotional support, cyber safety awareness, medical and emergency assistance through hospital tie-ups, and guidance on government welfare schemes including pensions, medical aid and health insurance.Senior citizens in need of help can reach out through the helpline 14567 or the Rachakonda WhatsApp number 8712662111.The launch event was attended by Deputy Commissioners of Police from Rachakonda, Security Council Joint Secretary Siva Karadi, Chief Coordinator Savithri Suryanarayana, other senior officers and RKSC Traffic Marshals.
