President of Baseball Operations Derek Falvey released the following statement ahead of the decision to part ways with Baldelli's services. "“This game is ultimately measured by results, and over the past two seasons we did not reach the goals we set,” Falvey stated. "I take personal responsibility for that. After discussions with ownership, we determined this is the right moment for a change in voice and direction.” Baldelli has been at the helm for Minnesota since 2019 and had early success for his first managerial role, winning 101 games in his first year, which got him the AL Manager of the Year award. During his tenure, the Twins have secured three AL Central titles, but have never advanced beyond the ALCS, and his last two seasons proved to be the nail in the coffin, leading Minnesota to back-to-back fourth-place finishes. The Twins were highly projected to make splashes in 2025, but since the calendar hit June, the flaws in play and bad stretches forced the Twins to be sellers at the Trade Deadline, which only dug them into an even deeper hole than before. At the end of it all, the Twins finished with the fourth-worst record in the MLB and finished with a 19-35 mark after the trade deadline.
