The trial in the case is yet to begin (File Photo)The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has filed a plea before the special court seeking directions to impound passports of five accused arrested in the Elgaar Parishad case. The court has directed the accused to file their replies.Special public prosecutor Prakash Shetty on Monday moved the plea citing provisions of the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act. The plea mentioned accused Rona Wilson, Mahesh Raut, Anand Teltumbde, Gautam Navlakha and Hany Babu.SPP Shetty referred to section 51 of UAPA, 1967, under which the passport and the arms licence of a person, who is charge-sheeted for having committed any offence under this Act, shall be deemed to have been impounded for such period as the court may deem fit. The period for this has to be decided by the court.The court will likely hear the plea on October 9.
