Railways designated the Kokrajhar-Gelephu line a Special Railway Project. The Northeast Frontier Railway issued the notification. This 69-km line will connect India and Bhutan. The project was part of the government’s Act East policy. The final location survey was completed. This project was estimated to cost around Rs 3,500 crore. It includes six new stations, bridges, and viaducts.
