Wait 5 sec.

Our Premier League Team of the Weekend celebrates the weekend’s finest performers, featuring standout displays from Arsenal, Brighton, Crystal Palace and Man City stars. We’ve assembled our lineup in a 3-4-3 formation to fit in a trio of centre-forwards. Do you agree with our selection? Lets us know in the comments below!Premier League Team of the Weekend:GK: Robin Roefs – SunderlandIt’s time to start taking Sunderland’s defence seriously. In their first six games since gaining promotion they have conceded just four goals, the joint-third fewest in the division.Robin Roefs has been one of the key reasons behind their solidity, as he showed against Nottingham Forest on Saturday. The Dutch goalkeeper made six saves, more than any other goalie over the weekend, to help the Black Cats keep a clean sheet and secure their third win of the campaign. They now sit fifth in the table on 11 points.CB: Marc Guehi – Crystal PalaceWe could have picked any of the Crystal Palace defenders from their win over Liverpool on Saturday. They all put in an collectively disciplined and industrious performance, making a combined 59 defensive actions between themIf there was one player we had to single out, though, it’s Marc Guehi. The centre-back scored the opening goal against the team he was set to join on deadline day before the deal was called off, while he also made seven clearances, one interception, two recoveries and created a big chance.Read – Arne Slot makes Liverpool admission following Crystal Palace defeatCB: Marcos Senesi – BournemouthWho needs Dean Huijsen and Illia Zabarnyi when you’ve got Marcos Senesi? The centre-back was outstanding against Leeds United, even if Bournemouth conceded twice. With the opposition putting the Cherries under severe pressure throughout the game, he made seven clearances, two blocks, three interceptions and three recoveries to help keep them in the game. And then went on to assist Eli Junior Kroupi’s equaliser in stoppage time. Outstanding.CB: Santiago Bueno – WolvesWolves came agonisingly close to their first win of the season on Saturday night, only to be denied by a late Joao Palhinha equaliser. Santiago Bueno was central to them earning a point at Spurs, scoring their goal while working tirelessly at the back. The Uruguayan completed four tackles, four clearances, three interceptions and three recoveries.RW: Yankuba Minteh – BrightonYankuba Minteh continues proving himself to be a brilliant signing by Brighton. The winger provided the assist for Danny Welbeck’s equaliser against Chelsea, setting up a second-half comeback to win 3-1.The Gambian made a mockery of Chelsea’s lavish spending on wide attackers, schooling them on how it’s done in the final third. His final ball still needs a bit of work, but his cross for the goal, which was classed as a big chance created, was absolutely perfect.Only one player had more touches in the opposition box than Minteh’s 12, illustrating what a handful he was for the Blues.Read – Chelsea ‘can’t keep giving away presents’ as red card proves costly again (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({});CM: Sean Longstaff – Leeds UnitedSaturday’s 2-2 draw between Leeds and Bournemouth may have borne witness to Sean Longstaff’s greatest ever performance in the Premier League. The midfielder swung in a fantastic strike from the edge of the box to put the Whites ahead, but he was superb in all areas of the game. He created seven chances, more than any other player over the weekend, two of which were big chances. But he also put in a massive shift on the other side of the ball, making 13 defensive contributions. What wizardry has Daniel Farke worked to unlock what was a consistently unremarkable player for Newcastle?CM: Declan Rice – ArsenalAnother typically strong display from Declan Rice, whose assist for Mikel Merino’s equaliser against Newcastle set the stage for a dramatic late win on Sunday. It was one of three chances the Arsenal star created, while he also dominated in midfielder, completing more passes in the final third (30) than any player across the Premier League this week.Additionally, Rice made five recoveries, three clearances, one block and one tackle in a great all-round performance.Bukayo Saka – Little things like VAR always go against ArsenalLW: Jeremy Doku – Man CityJeremy Doku is on a mission to prove all the doubters wrong this season. Yes, it was ‘only’ Burnley, but his contribution to Manchester City’s 5-1 win was scintillating all the same. The Belgian winger won 11 duels, completed eight dribbles, had an absolutely massive 22 touches in the opposition box, and completed 27 successful passes in the final third. He somehow ended the match with just one assist, but deserved so much more.RF: Danny Welbeck – BrightonDanny Welbeck absolutely loves playing against Chelsea. The Brighton striker scored twice at Stamford Bridge on Saturday in a 3-1 comeback win, burgeoning his impressive record against the Blues. The former Arsenal and Manchester United forward has been directly involved in seven goals (5 goals, 2 assists) in eight Premier League games against Chelsea for Brighton, more than against any other side in the competition for the Seagulls.Read – The players to score two own goals in a Premier League match (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({});CF: Erling Haaland – Man CityBurnley defended admirably for much of their encounter with City, but ultimately there is no stopping Erling Haaland when he is in the mood. The Norway international eventually found the net late on, grabbing a brace to bring his tally for the season to eight goals.Haaland finished well from Doku’s cross for City’s fourth before capitalising on a mix-up at the back to net the fifth. He also assisted Matheus Nunes for his side’s second goal of the day.LF: Igor Thiago – BrentfordIt has been a remarkable journey for Igor Thiago thus far. From losing his father when he was just 13 and working as a bricklayer to becoming a Premier League footballer and scoring the goals that downed Manchester United. The Brazilian striker fired in a thumping strike off a long ball to open the scoring before doubling Brentford’s lead with a tap-in. He’s already got four goals in the league, plus another in the League Cup this season. The Bees’ ability to find goal scoring forwards like this is incredible.Read – Ruben Amorim admits Man Utd ‘really confused’ in Brentford defeatSee Also – Ranking the worst Premier League away kits in 2025/26Follow The Football Faithful on Social Media:Facebook | Instagram | Twitter | YouTube | TikTokThe post Premier League Team of the Weekend – Haaland, Guehi, Welbeck first appeared on The Football Faithful.
