In a local needs group, a couple was living in a motel and had no underwear for their little girls (too small, ripped, etc). So I bought a few packs at Target and brought it to them. Parents apparently had plenty of money for weed and booze. It does have a happy ending. This was a few years back, and the couple have got it together more recently. Steady jobs, have an apartment, can care for their kids. The mom even admonished others in the group for not working to meet actual needs and admitted to her own weird time.
