Serious Beggar Problem in Windhoek. Why You Must Not Help. The video ends "So next time you come across them, try to give them a chance, be kind" No sorry, this is exactly the kind of advice that is breeding problems in Namibia by people who don't want to take accountability. We need another COVID Lockdown to clean the streets of filth, vermin and parasites. If Namibia is to prosper, we cant continue massaging egos and treating people with kid gloves. The beggar problem in Windhoek and other towns, remains a thorn in the flesh, along with daylight mugging and robberies. If we cant handle 3 million people, just imagine the chaos in this country when the population explodes to 5 or 10 million. Lets go back in time. Windhoek CBD used to be safe with City Police doing regular patrols. No unlicensed vendors, and no beggar car washers milling in the streets. Beggars and unsolicited homeless car washers in the CBD have become a huge nuisance and annoyance like a pack of hungry hyenas. The majority are criminals looking to mug pedestrians, shoppers and tourists. Here is what you must know, and why you must NOT HELP these buggers: 1) - Muggings have happened in supermarkets in full view of the public. If these entitled beggars are so bold in public, you can imagine what they can do in empty streets. 2) - The majority of beggars migrate from the Southern region to sleep under bridges, around corners, in alleyways, malls and parks in Windhoek. 3) - These beggars defecate and urinate everywhere. I have seen poop early in the morning on public benches under the shades in Post Street Mall, Town Square. 4) - Some of these beggars run away from farms to go beg in Windhoek. Its not a case of unemployment but alcohol/drug abuse and laziness. 5) - Some of these beggars are running away from crimes they committed like stealing from your parents, relatives or hosts, assault, rape and other domestic issues. They can't co-exist peacefully with other people, which is why they are in the streets. 6) - Some of these beggars force their girlfriends, wives and sisters into begging. It's an abusive forced relationship characterized by Stockholm Syndrome and threats. The homeless man is roaming around in the CBD trailed by the poor woman or girl who is clearly fearful and obedient. 7) - Beggars roaming the streets and CBD are running away from homeless camps and centers built for them. MoHSS identified about 900 people without shelter in Windhoek. Over 400 of them have been accommodated at the Khomasdal Stadium and Katutura Stadium. Khomasdal Homeless Development Organization provides accomodation and food for the homeless. Gondwana Care and other civic organizations provides meals to homeless people in Katutura and Khomasdal. 8) - One thing I noticed, beggars in low income locations like Katutura, Otjomuise, Wanaheda, Dolam etc, are not aggressive as the ones in the CBD because people are tough, unapproachable, stingy and very strict (which is good). In psychology, the state of Learned Helplessness is whereby a person or animal gives up because they have failed many times. Beggars will stop approaching you, harassing or stalking you if you repeatedly ignore them or tell them to go away with a serious rude tone. Beggars in the CBD are so aggressive and entitled because people are generous, soft and tolerant. .................. Stop Helping Beggars in the streets. Stop Helping Beggars in the streets. Stop Helping Brggars in the streets. This message is directed to naive gullible dogooders. It's directed to the woman and man who likes throwing coins at beggars. It's directed to the car owner who likes paying unsolicited car washers in the parking lot. You are creating a Frankenstein monster, chickens will come to roost one day. Here is what happens when you help a beggar: You are reinforcing their bad manners, laziness and entitlement. Give once and you elicit appreciation; Give twice and you create anticipation; Give three times and you create expectation; Give four times and it becomes entitlement; Give five times and you establish dependency. Beggars have a penchant for biting the hand that feeds them, so don't be surprised when they get aggressive or attack you. Beggars will start stalking and harassing you because they expect money from you. They will tell their friends, family, neighbours, brothers and sisters to go beg from you. In the end, you become a spectacle. Let's stop helping beggars. They are not supposed to be in the streets. They are supposed to be in homeless shelters and camps. They are supposed to be working on farms. They have no business being in the CBD or streets. If you want to get rid of cockroaches in your house, you deprive them of food and water. You dont scatter food scraps on the table. Beggars should not be tolerated. In fact, the City of Windhoek should make regular patriols in the CBD chasing away beggars and unsolicited car washers in the streets. submitted by /u/Upbeat-Work3617 [link] [comments]
