The Election Commission of India has instructed senior officials in West Bengal to ensure free and fair elections. This directive follows an incident where judicial officers were held hostage. The Chief Election Commissioner has handed over the investigation of this incident to the NIA. The Supreme Court has also expressed concern over the state authorities' inaction.
