‘The most well-read person in the room’: Karoline Leavitt’s sycophancy intensifies, insists Donald Trump is secret bookworm

Wait 5 sec.

Does Karoline Leavitt even know what truth is anymore? Leavitt has spent the second Trump administration lying with every exhalation, ready and waiting to parrot whatever nonsense the president demands of her. Presumably, any sense of dignity or self-worth Leavitt once possessed evaporated long ago – just take a peek at those increasingly soulless and blank eyes! All of which means it’s impressive that she’s actually managed to tell a new lie that’s had even Trump supporters thinking she’s going a little far. During an interview with Turning Point USA, Leavitt encouraged the audience “to be the most well-read person in any room you’re in”. Leavitt tries to be, but apparently this is tricky when you have to spend time with the intellectual colossus that is… Donald Trump: Leavitt: "You always want to be the most well-read person in the room, and I try to be every day. But Donald Trump always is." pic.twitter.com/HmaduJOjpX— Aaron Rupar (@atrupar) April 2, 2026 “That was a piece of advice one of my predecessors Dana Prino gave to me before I took this job. She said you always want to be the most well-read person in the room. And I try to be every day. But Donald Trump always is.” Leavitt went on to wax lyrical about Trump’s steel trap of a mind, explaining that his capacity to stay on top of world events and be an expert on every conceivable relevant issue is practically superhuman. I mean, I can believe that Trump really does spend a lot of time watching Fox News, so I guess he’s at least caught up on whatever nonsense they’re peddling. But calling Trump “the most well-read person in the room?” Can you really picture Donald Trump reading a book for pleasure? So, what are Trump’s literary tastes? Well, he’s repeatedly named his favorite books as The Art of the Deal and Surviving at the Top, which you will note are… his own books. I say that, but they were ghostwritten by other authors, and we can’t be sure he’s actually read them! The Art of the Deal ghostwriter Tony Schwartz believes Trump has never read a full book in his adult life, which is worryingly plausible. And it’s not just books, Trump is said to be allergic to all forms of written material. Multiple White House staff accounts say he doesn’t read policy papers or memos, instead requesting visual aids, maps, TV news, or just someone explaining something to him in simple terms. It’s gotten to the point where some have wondered if Trump actually knows how to read at all. But, thankfully, this is a bar the president can actually clear. After all, he can definitely read a teleprompter and can certainly tap out a social media post when he needs to. All of which is to say that Leavitt may have brown-nosed a little too close to the sun on this one. It’s one thing to compliment the president on his instincts, determination, or work ethic. It’s quite another to say that Donald Trump is the most well-read person in any room, unless perhaps it’s a kindergarten classroom and their teacher has briefly stepped out. Even then, it’s down to a coin flip.
