Howzit I am currently trying to apply for car finance as a foreigner living in SA, currently on a work permit I need a Traffic Register Number (TRN) to be able to register the car and obtain finance I tried to apply for a TRN at the Midrand Glen Austin licensing center and I was told that I could not apply for a TRN unless I have someone from the garage with me and with a bunch of documents (vehicle registration, etc.). I heard a similar story at the Marlboro center 2 years ago when I wanted to get a TRN because I thought I need one to drive but eventually just used my intl. license This doesn't make sense as I need to apply for a TRN before I can register the car under my name and if I want to get financing by myself (i.e. without the dealership's help) then I would need to provide a TRN before I can even apply for finance Anyone had a similar experience and would be able to share how to deal with this?
