/u/We_Are_Not__Amused on She’s offering $1500 per month in Houston. Child is newborn and wants on demand care overnight

Wait 5 sec.

We have twins and have used nannies since we brought them home. 5 year commitment is insane! People who are well suited to caring for newborns/infants are often not the best choice for toddler (I mean there are some who are great for more developmental periods and some who are more specialised). I also get the vibe that if you leave, even after the 5 year commitment, it will get pretty unpleasant very quickly. It also sounds like they want you to be a night nanny and then also work for their business, food prep and housekeeping. And if they stick to a 40 hour week (which I would absolutely bet money they won’t) it’s under $10 an hour. I know that US wages are incredibly poor but this reeks of modern slavery.
