The ongoing project to lay sewerage pipes and tiles was meant to improve the area’s roads, but unfinished work has left residents and shopkeepers struggling. After pipes were installed down the centre of the road, the tile-laying process stalled. With frequent rains, the surface has deteriorated further, creating puddles, slippery mud, and scattered debris. “We understand the work is for our benefit,” Jatinder Singh, a resident, said. “But can’t they at least leave some space to walk safely? Children need to reach school, and we need to reach our homes without risking injury.”Local businesses have been hit hard. Roshan, who runs a chemist shop on Nada Road, said customers are avoiding the area. “I invested everything in this store, but people don’t want to come here now. The road is impossible to cross,” he said.Shopkeepers and residents have repeatedly urged authorities to expedite the work or create temporary walking paths, but response has been slow. Meanwhile, the community is trying to adapt. Businesses remain open, though sales have dropped, and residents help each other navigate the hazardous stretch. As weeks turn into months, frustration is growing. The project, aimed at improving quality of life, has instead disrupted daily routines and hurt the local economy. Yet many hold on to hope. “We just want the road restored,” Singh added. “It’s not too much to ask.”For now, Nada Road stands as a reminder of how delayed infrastructure projects can affect entire communities — transforming a vital route into a symbol of neglect and resilience.Stay updated with the latest - Click here to follow us on Instagram© The Indian Express Pvt LtdTags:Nayagaon
