Kampala, Uganda | August 6, 2025 — Jubilation swept through the camp of the People’s Front for Transition (PFT) today following the judiciary’s announcement that Dr. Kizza Besigye’s bail hearing has been scheduled for Friday, August 8, 2025, at the Buganda Road Chief Magistrate’s Court.Supporters of the veteran opposition leader, who also heads the PFT, welcomed the news with optimism and renewed energy, gathering in small groups in parts of Kampala and across key towns to show solidarity.Dr. Besigye was remanded last week after his arrest during a peaceful protest over rising living costs, which his movement says are a direct result of poor governance and corruption.
