The accused, Dinesh Bhargav (39), a resident of Jhunjhunu district in Rajasthan, was nabbed from the Dabholi area in Surat on Tuesday evening.As many as 15 years after he was allegedly involved in the attempted kidnapping of the wife of his then employer, a driver-turned-astrologer has been arrested by the Surat Prevention of Crime Branch (PCB), officials said.The accused, Dinesh Bhargav (39), a resident of Jhunjhunu district in Rajasthan, was nabbed from the Dabholi area in Surat on Tuesday evening.Police sources said Dinesh used to drive a tempo, distributing water bottles in different shops in the Surat textile market area.He was working for Kailash Kumavat, also from Rajasthan, who was staying with his son and wife Sanjana in Surat.Sources said Kailash and Sanjana used to fight regularly and he wanted to teach his wife a lesson.In 2010, Kailash and Dinesh kidnapped Sanjana from her house in a car and were taking her to an isolated place when the woman began shouting and resisting their attempt, said the sources. Dinesh, who was driving the car, lost control of the steering and the vehicle met with an accident at Ghod Dod Road in Surat.Sanjana escaped and lodged a complaint against Kailash and Dinesh. While Kailash was promptly arrested, Dinesh remained absconding.Story continues below this adTalking to The Indian Express, PCB police inspector R R Suvera said, “He kept shifting his address to different places to evade arrest. He also got married again and became a father to two more sons. He had kept his criminal activities hidden from his new wife and sons. Dinesh had a background in astrology and thus resumed that work. He changed his appearance, grew a beard, and started keeping his hair long so that nobody could identify him.”On how he was nabbed, Suvera said, “Dinesh’s nephew stays in Katargam area. Dinesh came down to Surat on Tuesday, and our team got information about him. We caught him from the Dabholi crossroads. We are interrogating him to get more details.”Police sources said two years before kidnapping Sanjana, Kailash, with the help of Dinesh, had also abducted their son since he used to side with his mother.After Sanjana lodged a complaint into the disappearance of her son, then 11, and raised suspicion on her husband, police carried out a probe and rescued the minor from a house in Surat. Both Dinesh and Kailash were arrested and sent to jail. They walked out of prison after two years.Story continues below this adWhile Kailash came back home and tried to sort out his issues with his wife, Dinesh left for Rajasthan. After a few years, when the fight between the couple resumed, Kailash contacted Dinesh and invited him to come down to Surat to help him get rid of his wife, police said.
