Mark Bugembe, popularly known as Buchaman, has come out to defend Salim Saleh following the general’s recent remarks expressing frustration with artists.Gen. Saleh, who serves as the Chief Coordinator of Operation Wealth Creation (OWC), reportedly said that despite spending significant time engaging with musicians, little has been achieved from those efforts.Reacting to the comments, Buchaman said it is understandable for the General to feel fed up, noting that anyone can speak out of frustration. He emphasized that Saleh has been a strong supporter of the arts industry and credited him for spearheading the formation of the Uganda National Musicians Federation (UNMF) and the Uganda Musicians Association (UMA).According to Buchaman, musicians should seek support through these established bodies, especially since they were facilitated with SACCO funds to empower artists financially.Gen. Salim Saleh is a friend to the arts industry, as far as I know, and I have engaged with him. He may have made those statements out of anger, just like anybody else can get upset. If he repeated the same statement he made last year against OS Suuna, it’s okay to get fed up with them. Positively, he created for them the musicians’ federation (UNMF) and association, which still exists. They should go to those respective organs.Artists respond as General Salim Saleh expresses frustrationHe added that despite the General’s frustrations, the creative industry still considers him a close ally and one of its strongest supporters.Buchaman further revealed that he recently met with Gen. Saleh, where they discussed the 2026 general elections and prospects for the future. View this post on Instagram The post Buchaman defends Gen. Salim Saleh’s remarks on artists appeared first on MBU.
