The Short family is devastated by this loss and asks for privacy at this time. Katherine was beloved by all and will be remembered for the light and joy she brought into the world.”Gomez is nominated with the rest of her Only Murders in the Building cast for the Outstanding Performance by an Ensemble in a Comedy Series award.Gomez has been prioritizing her acting career in more recent years, appearing in projects like Emilia Perez and Wizards Beyond Waverly Place, in addition to the nominated Hulu mystery-comedy series, which was renewed for a sixth season.In November, she spoke to Apple Music’s Zane Lowe about why she set her music career aside to act more. “I think I just maybe got a little tired of [the pop star life],” she said. “And I think what I get so much out of film and TV, or any sort of performative creativity that isn’t music actually, it is another feeling that I can’t really explain other than I connect with a character.
