BBCThe Commons Speaker has confirmed he gave information about Lord Mandelson to the Metropolitan Police, after the peer's lawyers complained about the force's decision to arrest him on Monday.Lawyers for Lord Mandelson have said his arrest - on suspicion of misconduct in public office - was prompted by a "baseless" suggestion he was planning to leave the UK and move abroad.Sir Lindsay Hoyle said he had received "information" about the former Labour minister and passed it on in "good faith".The lawyers added that the peer had agreed to a voluntary interview next month, and he intends to co-operate with police and "clear his name". The BBC understands Sir Lindsay passed on information he received in the British Virgin Islands, on a visit last week, that Lord Mandelson was planning to travel there.
