Four Maltese projects have been recognised with the prestigious European Innovative Teaching Award (EITA) 2025, highlighting local excellence in education and innovation.The award, an initiative by the European Commission, celebrates outstanding projects funded through the Erasmus+ programme across Europe. Malta was represented by four initiatives spanning different areas of education, according to the EU Programmes Agency (EUPA).This year’s edition focused on the theme Citizenship Education – Participation in Democratic Life, Common Values and Civic Engagement, promoting active participation, critical thinking and shared European values.The Maltese projects recognised were:“Let’s Change the Pace” by The European Network of Parents of LGBTI+ Persons (Adult Education)“Staff Training Experience 2024” by PA Holdings Ltd (Early Childhood Education and Care)“Blooming Schools” by BirdLife Malta (School Education)“Beyond Capital” by The Maltese Italian Chamber of Commerce (Vocational Education and Training)Together, the projects highlight innovative teaching methods, inclusive learning environments and efforts to strengthen civic and entrepreneurial skills.Minister for European Funds Stefan Zrinzo Azzopardi said the recognition reflects the quality and vision of Malta’s education sector, adding that investment in Erasmus+ is delivering meaningful results for society. He described education as key to building active and responsible citizens and said EU funding is helping create more space for innovation and inclusion.EUPA CEO Raphael Scerri said the selection reflects the commitment and professionalism of Maltese organisations, noting that the award recognises projects that create real and lasting impact within their communities.The ministry congratulated all organisations involved and encouraged more institutions to tap into European programmes to further strengthen education, innovation and shared European values in Malta.•
