Larsen & Toubro (L&T) has secured a major order from India’s Department of Atomic Energy to construct a Laser Interferometer Gravitational Wave Observatory (LIGO) in Aundha, Hingoli, Maharashtra. The project, valued between ₹1,000-2,500 crore, includes high-precision civil infrastructure, an 8 km ultra-high vacuum beam tube, and critical vacuum equipment. Scheduled for completion in 48 months, this initiative is set to be one of India’s flagship ‘Mega Science’ projects.
