The Cognizant Classic betting tips and preview: Selections for next PGA Tour event

Wait 5 sec.

After several weeks on the West Coast, the PGA Tour now enters its Florida Swing, starting off with the Cognizant Classic held at PGA National. The 2026 edition marks the 20th year that the tournament has been held at this venue and winners have included the likes of Ernie Els, Rory McIlroy, Adam Scott and Justin Thomas over the years. This year, however, the field is slightly weaker, with none of the top 25 in the world rankings present this week.As such, Shane Lowry and Ryan Gerard lead the betting market at odds of  16/1, followed by Nicolaai Hojgaard at 22/1.Joe Highsmith won last year, finishing on -19, which was the lowest score to win since 2003.talkSPORT BET – Bet £10 and get £20 in free bets – CLAIM HERE* The Cognizant Classic TipsRyan Gerard to win and each-way @ 16/1Daniel Berger to win and each-way @ 33/1Beau Hossler Top-20 finish @ 4/1Gerard to finally claim second PGA Tour victoryGerard has come very close to ending his wait for another PGA Tour title, finishing runner-up at the Sony Open and American Express last month.Furthermore, he was also second at the Mauritius Open in December last year on the DP World Tour, suggesting he is edging closer to another win.He has played this event only twice previously, but has never shot higher than 71. Last year, the American even ranked 18th for Strokes Gained: Off the Tee and tenth for Strokes Gained: Around the Green. The American has also demonstrated how superb an iron player he is in 2026, ranking eighth on tour for Strokes Gained: Approach to Green. Given accuracy off the tee and approaching the green is vital this week, Gerard could have a great chance of ending his wait for his second tour title.Daniel Berger can build on solid start to 2026Berger hasn’t won on the PGA Tour since the 2021 AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am, going through several injury problems. He came close to ending that drought last year, finishing T2 at the Phoenix Open and T3 at the RBC Heritage. This year, he has been fairly solid, finishing sixth and T16 at the Sony Open and Phoenix Open, although he heads into the Cognizant Classic on the back of a missed cut at the Genesis last week. His performances at this event, however, offer some hope that he can start building momentum. In nine events, he has made six cuts and not finished lower than T36.His average finishing position since 2016 is 49.8, but the 32-year-old has recorded a runners-up finish (2015) and two fourth-place results (2020 and 2022) at the tournament.Last year, he opened with rounds of 63 and 68, but couldn’t follow that up over the weekend. If Berger can string four excellent rounds together, he could be a factor this week.Beau Hossler to turn around season at Cognizant ClassicIt hasn’t been a great start to the year for Beau Hossler. Three events played, three missed cuts.He hasn’t played since the Farmers Insurance Open three weeks ago, but his course history at PGA National offers some reassurance that he could make the weekend here.Winning would certainly be a big surprise, but a top-20 finish is withing reach for Hossler.Indeed, he has finished T32, T28 and T16, with an average finishing position of 34.8 since making his debut here in 2020.Further encouragement comes from the fact that he ranks 32nd for Strokes Gained: Total and 27th for Strokes Gained: Putting across his three events this year.talkSPORT BET – Bet £10 and get £20 in free bets – CLAIM HERE* *18+ New customers only.
