By Mulengera ReportersAt the Uganda Law Society weekly media interface in Kololo, Yusuf Nsibambi on Thursday destroyed NUP President Bobi Wine saying he had no moral authority to call Gen Museveni a vote thief. Nsibambi said there is no way Kyagulanyi could have defeated an organized leader like Museveni after failing to run his own NUP party properly. He claimed that NUP is party of outlaws which needs to be banned and prevented from fielding candidates. “How do you have a party operating without a constitution? They should actually not be fielding candidates except that the [M7] government is magnanimous and allows them.” Nsibambi, who not very long ago used to praise Bobi Wine besides sinking billions of his personal money to found and run NUP, added that in NUP no elections ever take place and that “Bobi Wine personally chooses 50% of the leaders and another 50% is chosen by Rubongoya.” Nsibambi said he gave up when he returned to Uganda and found that NUP had resorted to politics of the gaali and protest vote which he said was unworkable and only fermented confusion in the population. “How do you talk about protest vote in relation to elections you are participating in? I had gone abroad to have spinal surgery and returned only to find eggaali everywhere. I had to have the same also and that’s where the elections was lost.” Nsibambi said there is so much dictatorship and lack of transparency in NUP to the extent that even the person who chairs Buganda Kingdom’s “Kooti ya Kisekwa [clans disputes resolution Court]” is a more transparent and accountable leader than Bobi Wine and his entire NUP. Saying he had had the opportunity to be very close to Kyagulanyi and other NUP leaders, Nsibambi said he had long concluded that the Kavule-based political party leaders don’t know that a political party is a public body whose managers ought to be accountable in their actions and the way they arrive at decisions. He also wondered whether NUP leaders even know what is at stake. He said they don’t even have an agenda to take this country forward, which is why all young people must shun them.
