Football finance expert Stefan Borson has predicted that the new Tottenham leadership is going to make a big change over the next few years and correct the club’s past mistakes.Spurs are currently staring at the possibility of being relegated from the top flight for the first time in nearly 50 years.Supporters would hope that their continued struggles in the Premier League have served as a warning shot to the club’s hierarchy and will jolt them into action. That is what is expected to happen, according to The Telegraph, who claim that Spurs are ready to remove their restrictive wage cap in the summer and show some ambition if they manage to stay up.Credit: @thefrederikkejensen / InstagramStefan Borsen expects Tottenham to pull away from other non-big-six clubsBorsen has now said that it is unsustainable for Spurs to continue their current level of wage spending while expecting to compete among the top six.He predicted that we will see the Lilywhites’ wage bill move closer to the other big sides in the division and pull away from the likes of Aston Villa and Newcastle United.Borson told Football Insider: “I think that it’s very likely that we see a new phase and you have to judge it not just on one window but on a series of windows, maybe six windows, eight windows. But I would think over the next few years you will see Spurs increasing their average spend on players coming in and on the wage bill. “I would think the wage bill over the next few years will get closer and closer to City, Liverpool, Arsenal and Chelsea. Manchester United are actually going the other way, but depending on what happens with the Champions League, then they may start to go up again.“I think you’ll see Spurs effectively pulling away from the Newcastle and Aston Villa block, as we now have, and more towards the other five of the big six. I just don’t think you can operate as a Champions League club and a Premier League challenger with a wage bill of £250m total. It just doesn’t work. It’s just not enough. Your squad is too small.” Spurs expected to undertake a huge squad rebuildTottenham’s injury troubles and their struggles in the Premier League this season have exposed some of the gaping holes in their squad.According to reports, Spurs are eyeing an ambitious squad rebuild in the summer after failing to make the additions that were needed in January. This has been confirmed by the club officials as well, with the sporting director Johan Lange stating that Tottenham are ready to increase their spending to be competitive in the Premier League.READ MORE: Wayne Rooney slams Tottenham: Spurs are ‘naive’ to think they are a top-six teamThe post Tottenham tipped to pull away from rivals over the next six transfer windows: Finance expert appeared first on Spurs Web.
