Lace up, Run Gozo is back.With just two months to go, il-Ġirja t’Għawdex will return for its 51st edition on Sunday 26th April, bringing runners from Malta and beyond together for one of the island’s most iconic sporting events.Widely regarded as the biggest and longest-running athletic event in Gozo, Run Gozo continues to attract both local and international participants thanks to its unique mix of sport, scenery and history.Registrations are now open, with a variety of race options catering to all ages and fitness levels. Participants can choose from a Half Marathon, 10km and 5km races, 10km and 5km walkathons, a 2km family fun run, plus shorter races for children.Both the Half Marathon and 10km routes are AIMS-certified and the event carries a Gold Label from Athletics Malta, a testament to its quality and reputation.One of the event’s biggest draws is the route itself. Runners will pass some of Gozo’s most iconic landmarks, including the Cittadella, Ta’ Salvatur Hill, Xagħra Square, Xwejni Bay, the Qbajjar Salt Pans and Ta’ Pinu Shrine, offering a race experience that blends sport with the island’s natural beauty and heritage.Run Gozo dates back to 1977, when it was first organised by a group of young people from the Xagħra Youth Centre. More than five decades later, the event is still run by a dedicated team of volunteers committed to delivering a memorable race while promoting active lifestyles and celebrating Gozitan identity.Runners who register by 15th March will receive a personalised race bib.Applications are open at rungozo.org.Share with a runner!•
