Shedeur Sanders has a fight on his hands to keep his job as Cleveland Browns quarterback.Having fought his way up from fourth on the depth chart in his rookie season, Deion‘s son must do it all again under new head coach Todd Monken.Carson Beck racked up wins in collegeGettyDeshaun Watson‘s return from injury has increased the competition and Dillon Gabriel will hope to redeem himself under a different regime.Monken is well respected in NFL circles and two interesting Draft prospects are desperate to work with the former Baltimore Ravens offensive coordinator.Carson Beck led Miami to the College Football Playoff in 2025, having first played under the Browns coach at Georgia. In 34 games with Monken as his OC, Beck threw for 7,736 yards and 56 touchdowns with 18 interceptions.“I love him personally,” Beck told reporters at the Combine.“I’ve actually known him since I was seven or eight years old. I played baseball with his son whenever he was the wide receivers coach with the Jags. That’s cool.“I’ve been able to have a really good relationship with him over the years, and obviously at Georgia, he taught me a lot of what I know. He’s an amazing coach. “I had the opportunity to talk with him a little bit the other day when I was done with all my interviews.“We walked and chatted for a little bit. I love Coach Monk. He’s an awesome coach and great guy.”Beck had a formal interview with the Browns, with the Miami Dolphins, New York Jets, and Pittsburgh Steelers among his other suitors.Shedeur Sanders didn’t throw at the CombineGettyTy Simpson joined Beck in running drillsGettyWhile he may lack elite traits, he is a proven winner and is being touted as a fifth-rounder — ironically the round Sanders ended up sliding too.“That would obviously be super cool,” Beck said.“Any team that’s going to draft me, I’m super grateful for the opportunity, but if coach Monken were to be my coach again, obviously I really enjoyed him being my coach at the University of Georgia, and what I was able to learn from him there. So, I’d be super stoked.”Ty Simpson’s dad knows Todd MonkenBeck isn’t the only prospect who is friendly with Monken.Alabama QB Ty Simpson’s dad Jason is a college coach and close pal of the Browns hire.“He’d be very excited. My dad and coach Monken go way back,” explained the dual-threat star. “They talk often.
