I’m in the south. We had one at our rescue. The sun here is an issue but we didn’t adopt out locally, they were sent up north. My friend who had one got uv tint for her windows, also wiped inbetween the folds of the cat each day and bi weekly/ weekly bathing is needed (preferably weekly in our climate), we drove a long way to go get her dude and he’s sweet but he gets checked several times a year just for skin. Just like how my senior cats go twice a year to vet instead of annuals due to age. Also with the ac being an issue here since it gets hot and moist she had a lot of areas for the cat. And some are just prone to skin issues in general. Cats aren’t cheap pets and I hate the mentality that people seem to think they are. Especially high energy cats. They all have their own personalities and genetics are definitely a thing so checking out the breeder is important but I don’t consider these low maintenance cats. Or cats in general low maintenance as due to different coat types you’d have to brush/bathe a DSH daily if they have enough hair.
