Apple growers from Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh, and Uttarakhand will protest in Delhi next month to oppose a proposed duty concession on US apples under a trade pact that would allow duty-free imports from the United States. They warn the move could flood Indian markets and harm domestic farmers. The Samyukta Kisan Morcha has pledged support for the protest.
