So, they: Interrupt your evening Insist on on-the-spot donation$ Talk past you as if you are not there Assume the male(?) is head of household and solely in charge of financial decisions Only left once the male (presumed from context; they were both male) told them it wasn't up to him. Bizarre; and sadly, not uncommon. I haven't had that happen; I've had a door to door 'charitable request' guy, who lost it when I didn't open the door, and began shouting and screaming on the porch, and wouldn't leave. (I've never heard of the charity, before during or since.) I had no money anyway, was home alone, and he looked totally random; not even anything with logos. And I've had more than one server at a restaurant (thankfully just a few, and I'm very pro-server, and a generous tipper; and I'm 'up in years' so that's a lot of servers over the years), either insult me or talk past me. The two male servers who come to mind, were weirdly insulting (the one I recall clearly was "I'll bring you some parmesan" and when returning "Bet you thought this only came in the shaker with the green lid, eh?" to me. I just felt baffled.) He was male and so was the other who made a similar insult. (Along the lines of 'you must be stupid/uncouth' and for no reason. Both were 'nicer' places, too. Very weird. That's when I was in my 20s and fairly timid.) The third who comes to mind, was a woman who, so overtly it neared parody, flirted with my husband, not knowing I was the one paying, and also leaving the tip. (It was so obvious I nearly laughed.) In all three cases I just sat, with ???? over my head. I still tipped adequately but not like I had planned. Like, don't eat my husband with your eyes, lean over, lick your lips while staring him in the eyes, etc., yet refuse to look at me and barely take my order (it was pretty overt and astonishing), it's not only rude but it's stupid. (And that's what was in my mind as I watched the 'show.') Many times it's the woman, per studies, who leaves the tip. Per polls of servers and delivery persons, women are often the more generous among tippers. And I'm not a jealous person, so it was just weird, and comical. And thankfully, a one-off. I didn't react, just sat there amused and thinking, 'this will be a good story one day.' But, sometimes, even women play women and men off each other. Weird, isn't it? That type of thing, in the late 20th or first fifth of the 21st century?
