5.11 Tactical is a California-based company well known for designing and manufacturing high-performance tactical apparel, gear, and accessories. The brand originated in the 1960s when rock climber Royal Robbins developed the first pair of durable climbing pants, named “5.11” after the highest level of difficulty in the Yosemite Decimal System, signifying exceptional performance. In 2003, the company was officially established as 5.11 Tactical, focusing on outfitting law enforcement, military personnel, and first responders. Over the years, the brand expanded its offerings to include tactical backpacks, footwear, and everyday carry (EDC) gear, catering to professionals and outdoor enthusiasts. In my opinion, 5.11 has come a very long way since I was first introduced to the brand about 15 years ago. This review will focus on their Rage Ready Trainer Bag 50L. One of the reasons I wanted to test this 5.11 bag is that it looked both strong and streamlined, and I can appreciate gear that gets the job done without being too bulky.More 5.11 @ TFB TFB Review: 5.11 Tactical RUSH 24 2.0 Backpack - After 3 Years [SHOT 2026] 5.11 Tactical Roundup - AMP is Back, VXI Goes Full Send TFB Review: Traveling With the 5.11 Mission Ready 3.0 The 5.11 x James Reeves Stache Sneaker goes Iron Grey for FallDisclaimer: The 5.11 Range Ready Trainer was provided by 5.11 for this review. I have the woodland camo variant for this review. The materials themselves feel high quality, and the first time I slung it over my shoulder, the weight was comfortably distributed. It's immediately clear that a lot of consideration went into the design. What stands out are the many pockets and organisational options. Numerous compartments, including dedicated spaces for firearms, ammunition, and other necessities. I adore this as it allows me to keep all my gear organized when I'm at the range, and as we all know, range time is valuable time. The internal layout is logical and encouraged me to load it up with my gear and head out.Building on those first impressions, the build quality of the 5.11 Rage Ready Trainer Bag 50L is pretty solid, in my experience it’s built to be robust. It features strong YKK zips and tight, durable stitching which should ensure a long lifespan. The material has also had a protective treatment applied to resist damage, making it a dependable place to throw your ammo and handguns. Comfort is enhanced by the padded shoulder strap and allows you to have an additional hand free if needed. It also offers attachment points for additional pouches and MOLLE-compatible accessories, allowing for customization and adding even more compartments. In terms of performance, the 5.11 Rage Ready Trainer Bag 50L is superb at maintaining order and is a fantastic choice for anyone needing a little more organization in their range sessions. When loading my items like firearms, cleaning supplies and a range of tactical tools, the bag's layout did not feel restrictive to me and everything felt secured. The gun compartments are padded, providing both protection and quick access. The large main compartment offers ample space with internal dividers to maintain organisation. This level of organisation increases my efficiency, particularly when time is short, and represents a good compromise between capacity and order, something some other bags may not offer. During testing, the zipped pockets secured smaller items, avoiding the clutter that was common for me when I used to use a backpack for my range trips. The front organiser pocket provides rapid access to items normally buried in a larger compartment. All this detail improves usability and helps manage a hectic day of shooting and filming. In conclusion, the 5.11 Rage Ready Trainer Bag 50L is an excellent choice for anyone wanting a functional, durable and attractive range bag. My first impressions were confirmed by the solid construction and subsequent testing. It’s exceptionally well organised, with features that enhanced my trips to the range and what more can you ask for?
